Chhatar Manzil

Back

This historic and signature building stands on the bank of Gomti river.

It derives its name from the guilt dome with a covering umbrella, which gives a special magnificence to the complex. The ‘chhatar’ atop this building forms part of Lucknow’s official logo.

It was constructed by Nawab Ghazi-ud-din Haider and completed by his son Nasir-ud-din Haider. It is an example of Indo-European-Nawabi architectural style. Till recently it housed the Central Drug Research Institute (C.D.R.I.) and is now proposed to be developed as a museum on Awadh heritage and traditions.
