Clock Tower

Back

Near Rumi Darwaza, this 221 ft. high Clock Tower was built in 1881 to mark the arrival of Sir George Couper, the first Lieutenant Governor of the United Province of Awadh.

Set amidst picturesque background, it is commonly known as Ghantaghar and reflects Victorian and Gothic style designs.

Gunmetal is used for building the clock parts. Its gigantic pendulum has a length of 14 feet and the dial of the clock is designed in the shape of a 12-petalled flower and bells around it.
