World Bank aided Uttar Pradesh Pro-Poor Tourism Development Project is an innovative project. In this project under two major destinations i.e., Agra and Braj region of state, project for poverty eradication and employment creation will be operated through Tourism Development related activities. Under this project, along with creation and development of basic tourist facilities at monuments/sites of selected areas, several activities are also proposed for the economic/social level development of society and employment creation.

Loan agreement and project agreement for above projects has been signed between World Bank and Economic Work Department, Ministry of Finance, Government of India on 28.12.2017 at New Delhi. Total costing of project is Rs.371.43 crore (57.14 Million U.S. Dollar), out of which 70% will be endured by the World Bank and 30% by State Government. Under the above project work has been started in Agra and Vrindavan from January, 2018. Under the project, Uttar Pradesh Government has allotted Agra Development Authority for work in Agra and Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority to work at Mathura district.
